Stuff

Late in 2010, I rented a storage unit.

This storage unit costs me 55 dollars a month, for 5 x 10 feet of climate controlled space. I have a ton of crap in the house, so much stuff that I find myself snaking between stacks of stuff when going from one room to another.

Now, to be fair I'm in the middle of a couple of remodeling projects including a bathroom and a media room, so stuff has been displaced, and that is in fact a big part of the problem.

But there's stuff in the house I don't remember having. From time to time I find things tucked into corners and such that I accused my ex-wife of stealing, which always makes me feel terrible. Don't get me wrong, she stole a lot of stuff, but I really feel bad when I have falsely accused her of something.

One of my little challenges with regard to stuff, is I can nearly always find a use for something. Here's how bad it is: I recently refurbished some speakers that had the grill stapled onto the box (Bose 501s, actually, and yes they came from the factory with the grills stapled on). When I pulled the staples, I seriously considered whether I could reuse the staples to put the grills back on. No, really.

So this project is to give away, sell, or throw away enough stuff that I don't need a storage unit, and there are no boxes of stuff visible from any chair in the house.
