Biking to Work (Abandoned)

A new job further away has caused the Bike to Work project to become impractical.  I'm going to start a new Biking project though, for general fitness.

The company I work for has changed offices, I now have an office a mere 5.1 miles (according to Google) from the house, and 2.3 miles from my favorite coffeeshop where my CoffeeGoddess works.  It turns out the route I will be riding for safety is actually 5.5 miles.

My city isn't terribly bike friendly, but my route is on predominantly surface streets now, so with adequate lighting and mirrors, I should be safe enough to ride a bicycle to work.

A few months back, my good friend Greg gave me a commuter bike, a Trek 7500.  After some maintenance and a few accessories at my local bike shop Action Bikes, I'm set for riding to work.

So the plan is, put the bike carrier on CoffeeGoddess' car, and ride to the coffeeshop with her in the mornings Tuesday thru Friday.  Ride the bike to work from there at 6:30 AM, beating the morning traffic rush.

The ride home is hilly and gains around 50' in total elevation.  I've had to walk the bike up the hills these first few days.

Yesterday's 5.5 Mile ride home took somewhere near 46 minutes, and the 2.3 mile ride in this morning was 10 minutes.

This project is to ride to work 15 days during December, the goal being to be able to ride the whole way home without walking the bike up the hills.  Time isn't really important, but in my head i have 35 minutes as a loose goal for time, for the ride home.

I moved a cycle computer (the inspire 6i) from another bike I have, onto this new one, last night, so I'll be blogging my ride times, maybe that will help keep me motivated.
